EBRD invests record EUR 2.4 billion in Ukraine in 2024

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested a record almost EUR 2.4 billion in Ukraine in 2024, after EUR 2.1 billion in 2023.

The bank has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The bank is the largest institutional investor in Ukraine, which has significantly increased its investment volumes since the start of the full-scale russian invasion in February 2022.

The total amount of financing provided by the EBRD in Ukraine during the war is almost EUR 6.2 billion.

The EBRD's priority areas of activity in Ukraine are supporting energy security, vital infrastructure, food security, trade and the private sector.

Trade financing is included in the total along with investments.

In 2024, the EBRD provided a record EUR 833 million in financing through partner financial institutions in Ukraine, including EUR 472 million in support of trade finance under its Trade Facilitation Programme.

The bank continues to use portfolio risk sharing as a key tool to ensure Ukrainian businesses have access to finance.

The EBRD is now the leading provider of such guarantees in the country.

Since 2022, the Bank has mobilised donor support for Ukraine, including unfunded guarantees, totalling over EUR 2.6 billion, of which almost EUR 1 billion was mobilised in 2024 alone.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested a record EUR 2.1 billion in projects in Ukraine in 2023, while in 2022 the bank provided Ukraine with EUR 1.7 billion.
