U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not go to the meeting of foreign ministers of the G20 countries, which will be held on February 20-21 in Johannesburg. He announced this on X.
“I will NOT attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg. South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.” In other words: DEI and climate change. My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism,” he wrote.
This year, the G20 presidency is held by South Africa, which has chosen the motto "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability".
A G20 leaders' summit is to be held in Johannesburg in November, after which the presidency of the group will pass to the United States.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio plans to visit Panama amid Trump's statements about the Panama Canal.
