French Mirage 2000 fighters already in Ukraine – French Defense Minister Lecornu

The first French Mirage 2000 fighters are already in Ukraine.

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced this on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

He noted that on June 6, 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the delivery of French Mirage 2000s to Ukraine.

"The first of them arrived in Ukraine today. With Ukrainian pilots on board who trained in France for several months, they will now take part in protecting Ukrainian skies," he said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, media informed that the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive the first three Dassault Aviation Mirage 2000−5F fighters in January. Some sources even suggested that they were already present in Ukraine, but were currently used only for training flights. It is noted that these fighters, taken from the French Air Force, have been modified, and about ten aircraft of this type will have Ukrainian markings. At the same time, according to preliminary data, France is to transfer six Mirage fighters to Ukraine in the first batch.

In June 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the supply of a series of Mirage 2000 aircraft to Ukraine and the start of training pilots and engineers to service the fighters.
