Russian dictator vladimir putin intends to deploy troops on the territory of Belarus in order to try to drag the country into war against Ukraine. This could happen by the end of this year.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a press conference with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, his words were quoted by Ukrinform.
According to him, putin intends to do everything to ensure that military aggression against Ukraine does not stop. Therefore, the russian dictator is thinking about other countries, how to provoke them.
"Possibly, the next one will be Poland, or the Baltic countries. And this is not just another rhetoric. You will see, in the spring, summer or autumn, he will deploy forces on the territory of Belarus. And many Europeans, perhaps the United States, will say that this is intimidation of Poland, Lithuania, and our other Baltic partners," Zelenskyy said.
The President added that he did not know whether putin intended to invade from the territory of Belarus, but he was sure that the russian dictator would try to drag it into the conflict in any case.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said that when missiles flew from the territory of Belarus towards Ukraine, the country was already a participant in the war.
"But their people - no, and their troops - not yet, but Putin really wants it," the head of state emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 3, a test of the combat readiness of the country's armed forces was announced in Belarus.
Recall that on January 26, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that the russians would allegedly provide him with Oreshnik missiles.
We also wrote that the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) published a 108-page report stating that russia would annex Belarus in the coming decade.
