Elon Musk granted status of special civil servant in US

The White House has officially granted billionaire Elon Musk the status of a special civil servant, which means he will work under the leadership of US President Donald Trump.

This was reported by CNN with reference to a White House representative.

This status allows Musk to participate in government affairs without being a full-time federal employee, but not as a volunteer. He does not receive a salary, but has top-secret access to government information.

According to US law, special civil servants work for the government for up to 130 days a year. They are subject to the conflict of interest law, which prohibits them from engaging in business that may affect their financial interests. Only the US Department of Justice can monitor compliance with this law.

The day before, Trump confirmed that Musk had gained access to the key payment system of the Department of the Treasury, which makes transfers on behalf of the federal government. Because of this, federal trade unions and a number of organizations sued the Department of the Treasury.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Trump put Musk in his place and said that the billionaire would not do anything without the administration's approval.

Billionaire Elon Musk said on Monday that work is underway to close the American international aid agency USAID.

Musk also accused the United States Agency for International Development of spreading the coronavirus and spreading propaganda. After these accusations, Musk deleted the organization's account from the X social network.
