US President Donald Trump said that billionaire Elon Musk, who was appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency, will not make decisions without prior approval from the presidential administration.
This is reported by CNN.
"Elon cannot and will not do anything without our approval. And we will give him permission where it is appropriate. Where it is inappropriate, we will not do it," Trump said.
He also denied that Musk's Department would allegedly have access to the system of government payments. Musk can only make decisions to fire officials whom he and the administration consider unfit for work.
"He only has access to fire people, who he considers bad, if we agree with him, and only if we agree with him. He is a very talented guy in terms of management and spending, and we have instructed him to see what he can do with certain groups and certain numbers," Trump said.
The US President assured that Musk will reduce the size of the government, but if he has a conflict of interest, he will not make decisions. At the same time, Trump praised Musk.
"He has a good, natural instinct. He has a team of very talented people. We are trying to reduce the government, and he can probably reduce it as well as anyone else," Trump said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, billionaire Elon Musk said on Monday that work is underway to close the US agency for international aid USAID.
Musk also accused the US Agency for International Development (USAID) of spreading the coronavirus and spreading propaganda. After these accusations, Musk deleted the organization's account from the X social network.
