A member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, called the experience of countries that have become members of the European Union over the past 20 years, in particular Poland, an example for imitation in financial policy.
He expressed this opinion in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency.
"Poland, undoubtedly. Having a comparable, more or less equal economic potential, even smaller than ours in the early 1990s, Poland has now entered the top 30 countries in the world in terms of its well-being. This is exactly the path that they have taken and which we should repeat. Not one to one. Unfortunately, we have less time for this. This is definitely not some pre-written algorithm, but this is at least a general guideline that we need to follow," Hetmantsev said.
At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine should not blindly imitate the financial policy of any particular country, since historical, geographical, political and economic conditions are unique for each state.
In his opinion, the main goal is to integrate the Ukrainian economy into the EU production chains.
"Without the EU, we have no future, it is not a question of an alternative, but a question of survival. Summarizing everything I said, analyzing and drawing a conclusion, the closest to imitation, but not a carbon copy, are the countries that have become EU members in the last 20 years," Hetmantsev added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Hetmantsev assures that there are no plans to increase taxes in 2025.
