CCD explains importance of Astrakhan gas processing plant, attacked by drones at night

Overnight into Monday, February 3, in russia, UAVs hit one of the key combined units of the Astrakhan gas processing plant. This is one of the key energy facilities of the russian federation, which provides for the processing of gas condensate and the production of gasoline, diesel fuel and more.

This was reported on February 3 by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andrii Kovalenko.

"The Astrakhan gas processing plant was attacked. The plant affects the military-industrial complex of russia, since the fuel and energy sector is the main source of financing for the defense sector," he added.

The Astrakhan gas processing plant is one of the largest gas chemical complexes in russia, located on the Astrakhan gas condensate field. The plant actively processes natural gas and gas condensate. In 2022, the plant processed 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.418 million tons of unstable gas condensate.

The Astrakhan gas processing plant produces a wide range of products, including automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, gas condensates and sulfur of various types.

Previously, the hit was at one of the key combined units of the plant, which is responsible for the primary processing of stable gas condensate.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Astrakhan and Volgograd Oblasts of the russian federation were attacked by drones, russians complain about a fire.
