Trump proposes to create camp for migrants in Guantanamo Bay

US President Donald Trump proposes to remove "criminal" migrants to the naval base in Guantanamo Bay.

This is reported by The New York Times.

"We have 30,000 places in Guantanamo to hold the worst illegal criminals who threaten the American people. Some of them are so bad that we don't even trust the countries that hold them because we don't want them to come back," Trump said.

He explained that he chose this particular place because Guantanamo is "hard to get out of."

The US has already detained and sent to custody almost 40,000 migrants. These detention facilities are overcrowded.

The base where Trump proposes to hold migrants is located on the shores of Guantanamo. This is the same island where the prison of the same name for suspected terrorists is located. However, the prison is on the opposite side.

It is still unclear what rights those deported to Guantanamo will have.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order closing the southern border of the United States to illegal immigrants.
