Trump signs executive order to close US southern border

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to close the southern border of the United States to illegal immigrants.

The White House announced this on January 22.

Thus, it is emphasized that the President has the authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act, as well as the authority under Article II of the Constitution, to prevent the physical entry of illegal foreigners into the United States through the southern border.

It is noted that some states, including Texas, have asked the federal government for "protection from invasion" of migrants during the Biden administration, which, as it is claimed, "has failed to protect them from the millions of illegal foreigners who enter the United States, invade their communities and impose billions of dollars in costs on state and local governments."

"Exercising his authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act and the United States Constitution, President Trump authorizes and directs the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of State to take all necessary measures to immediately remove, and repatriate illegal foreigners crossing the southern border of the United States," the statement said.

In particular, Trump has restricted access to immigration law provisions that would allow illegal immigrants "involved in the invasion of the southern border of the United States" to remain in the United States, for example, to receive asylum.

It is emphasized that this decision is consistent with Donald Trump's campaign promises to "close the border on the first day" of his new presidential term.
