An explosion occurred at the plant of the German defense concern Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain, injuring six men.
This was reported by the Spanish publication Infobae on Thursday, January 30.
According to the Regional Emergency Coordination Center, six men aged between 30 and 52 were injured to varying degrees after an explosion at an explosives production warehouse in Javalí Viejo, Murcia. Five of them were hospitalized with multiple bruises, burns, smoke poisoning and traumatic brain injuries.
"Following an alarm that was received at around 4:20 p.m. this Wednesday, firefighters from the Murcia City Council Fire and Rescue Department, National Police officers and environmentalists were called to the scene to extinguish two fires, one of which covered about 1,000 and the other about 2,000 square meters of bushes near the factory. Both fires are now under control," the report says.
An investigation into the causes of the explosion is currently underway.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, an explosion occurred at the Polish Mesko arms factory in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship on June 10.
On July 4, an explosion occurred at the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems defense enterprise in Arkansas, USA.
Recall that in June 2023, five workers were killed in Turkey as a result of an explosion at a missile and explosives factory.
