North Korea accelerating preparations for additional troop deployment in russia – South Korea

North Korea is likely accelerating preparations for additional troop deployment in russia, continuing to push for potential launches of a spy satellite or intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea stated this, Yonhup reports.

"About four months have passed since the deployment of troops to participate in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and it is assumed that (North Korea) is accelerating preparations for additional measures and deployments amid numerous casualties and the appearance of prisoners," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a written assessment.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff expects North Korea to continue preparations for launches using the latest weapons - such as a spy satellite or ICBM. But it notes that there is no sign of such launches in the near future.

It is recalled that earlier this month North Korea carried out two missile launches, including one of them, as it claimed, of a hypersonic missile, just days before the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Although no signs of missile launches have been detected since Trump took office, preparations for the launch of a spy satellite or ICBM appear to be ongoing," the South Korea's military said, without providing further details.

Nevertheless, it is stated that the DPRK appears to be ready for provocations using short-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles or garbage balloons at any time.

"Given that the North has carried out unexpected provocations depending on its needs, the military does not rule out the possibility of such provocations and will enhance surveillance and readiness," the message said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed the first video of the interrogation of North Korean soldiers who were captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation.

The North Korean military, who are fighting alongside the russians against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk Oblast, executed Ukrainians who tried to surrender.
