U.S. President Donald Trump said that russia had access to hypersonic missile plans during the Barack Obama administration.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump repeated his previous accusations, saying: "Russia stole the design, they got it from us. Some bad person gave it to them."
The President also promised that the United States would have new hypersonic missiles that would be "even one step better" than the russian ones, adding: "We will have them starting fairly shortly."
This is not the first time that Trump has claimed theft. In 2023, he called russian missiles a copy of the U.S. "super-duper missiles." In response, the kremlin said that they have "their own missile, a great missile."
Trump's words once again highlight the tension in relations between Washington and moscow over strategic weapons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Trump wants to discuss reducing nuclear weapons stockpiles with China and russia. The head of the White House believes that denuclearization can be an important step towards ensuring the security of the planet.
