U.S. President Donald Trump wants to discuss reducing nuclear weapons stocks with China and russia.
The head of the White House believes that denuclearization can be an important step towards ensuring the security of the planet.
Trump said this at the World Economic Forum in Davos, his speech was broadcast by the Voice of America.
According to Trump, China currently possesses significantly fewer nuclear weapons than the United States. But, he emphasized, in the next 4-5 years Beijing is going to increase its stocks.
The American leader added that earlier russian dictator vladimir putin allegedly liked the idea of denuclearization.
"I will tell you President Putin really liked the idea of cutting way back on nuclear. And I think the rest of the world, we would have gotten them to follow, and China would have come along too," Trump said.
Trump believes that denuclearization would be an important step towards ensuring the security of the planet, since nuclear weapons have destructive capabilities, and their production consumes huge resources.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 18, the head of the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration, Jill Hruby, said that the U.S. military had begun deploying modified nuclear aerial bombs in European countries.
And in November 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense announced its intention to change its nuclear deterrence strategy.
Recall that in July 2024, the U.S. declassified information about its nuclear arsenal and named the number of nuclear warheads.
