Prospects for "sitting down at table" of negotiations with russia currently absent - Merezhko

Prospects for the start of negotiations with the aggressor country, the russian federation, are currently absent.

Oleksandr Merezhko, a Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and interparliamentary cooperation, has stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian News agency.

"I do not see specific mechanisms that could ensure such agreements (on stopping the war). First, there are no agreements themselves, and it is unlikely that there will be any. Even from a formal point of view, the positions of the states participating in the negotiations are diametrically opposed. They exclude each other. There is not even a prospect yet of sitting down at the negotiating table at all," the MP assures.

According to him, russian president vladimir putin is not going to fulfill any obligations.

"If we are talking about achieving a result on Putin's terms, then it makes no sense. Because it means the delayed death of Ukrainian statehood. Putin is simply trying to create conditions for destroying Ukraine just a little later with the conditions he puts forward. He is creating conditions convenient for himself to destroy Ukraine. Therefore, there are no prospects for real negotiations here. There simply are none," he explained.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Oleksandr Merezhko noted the main conditions that Ukraine will not accept under any circumstances regarding the issue of ending the war.
