Russia's war against Ukraine would "end immediately" if oil prices fell - Trump

US President Donald Trump said the russia-Ukraine war would "end immediately" if oil prices fell.

His words were quoted by The Guardian on Thursday, January 23.

Trump said he would ask Saudi Arabia and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to destroy the price of oil. The US President said he was "surprised" that such steps had not been taken as early as November last year.

"If the price of oil had fallen, the russia-Ukraine war would have ended immediately. The price is high enough right now to continue this war. They should have done it a long time ago. They are actually responsible, to some extent, for what is happening," Trump stressed.

According to him, despite the G7 and EU sanctions on energy sales, russia continues to profit from oil sales.

"If Saudi Arabia and the wider OPEC group pumped more oil, the law of supply and demand would apply...", Trump said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 22, Donald Trump said that the United States would tighten sanctions against russia and impose tariffs on all russian exports if russian dictator vladimir putin did not agree to sit down at the negotiating table.

As we will recall, the American publication The Wall Street Journal wrote that Trump instructed the special representative for Ukraine and russia to end the war within 100 days.

On January 15, The Hill reported that Trump may offer russia a space deal in exchange for peace in Ukraine.
