On January 22, 135 miners were trapped at a depth of more than 1,300 meters due to an accident at a mine substation in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.
"Thanks to the joint work of mine rescuers, specialists from the enterprise and other units of the State Emergency Service, the accident was eliminated. The rescue of the miners required the use of a complex technology for creating an artificial load on the mine cage, which allowed people to be safely lifted to the surface. The rescue work has been completed. All 135 miners returned home safe and sound," the message says.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, one of the ventilation shafts of the coal mine of the Ukrainian company Metinvest in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk Region was blown up to prevent the troops of the aggressor country of russia from using the underground tunnels.
On January 13, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Metinvest had stopped coal mining at the mine in the Pokrovsk district.
And on January 14, the company published a message confirming the suspension of the Pokrovsk coal group. Enterprise employees and their family members were evacuated.
Recall, in mid-December 2024, it became known that Metinvest had stopped the operation of the coal mining site in the area of the village of Pishchane. This is ventilation shaft No. 3.
