President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country will not agree to any compromise that would involve recognizing the occupied territories as part of russia, even under pressure from all international allies.
Zelenskyy said this during a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council.
Zelenskyy stressed that for Ukraine these territories will remain part of its state until they are returned to Ukrainian control. "No matter what anyone wants. Even if all the allies of the world unite, we still will not recognize the occupied territories. This is impossible. We do not legally recognize them. For us, they will always remain occupied territories until we return there," he noted.
The President also noted that any dialogue with russia should take place only from a position of strength. "Putin cannot be subjectified in this story. He violated everything. He is guilty and must realize it. But he cannot be stopped, if you talk to him on an equal footing - this is a loss for Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to the President, ending the active phase of the war is the main priority for Ukraine: "We must find all opportunities to end the hot stage of the war. This is the number one issue. There may be a lot of negotiations, but the main thing is to stop the active phase. This is the number one security guarantee."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Trump called on putin to conclude an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
