Cabinet wants to cancel payments to people with 2nd and 3rd disability groups – MP Tsymbaliuk

The Cabinet of Ministers wants to cancel payments to people with 2nd and 3rd disability groups, and instead introduce a large amount of payment for group 1.

The first deputy chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans' Rights, a Verkhovna Rada Member from the Batkivshchyna faction, Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, has said this in an interview to the Ukrainian News agency.

"The government is still saying things that are not even discussed with the parliamentarians, under which laws need to be passed. There are various conversations, but so far I do not see the seriousness of the social protection reform. I do not perceive the reform as simply taking money from someone. This is the wrong approach," he said regarding the future social policy reform.

In his opinion, the authorities should be ready to increase the number of veterans and people with disabilities, who need not only social assistance, but also create conditions for employment.

"I understand that a person with a group 2 disability receives approximately UAH 2,000. It is impossible to survive on these funds. When they say that a person with a group 1 disability will receive UAH 20,000, okay, and a group 2, group 3 - nothing, then this is unacceptable. At least keep this minimum, because there really is nowhere to take money. Create conditions so that a person can find a job," said Tsymbaliuk.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to introduce one, but significant payment instead of various social payments for families who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances.
