Moldova ready to provide assistance to Transnistria, but only after withdrawal of russian troops — Sandu

Moldova is ready to provide financial assistance to Transnistria (PMR), but only after the army of the aggressor country, russia, leaves the territory of the unrecognized republic.

According to NewsMaker, Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated this.

"We are ready, with the support of donors — this is very important to note — to provide financial assistance to the Left Bank. But this will become possible after the withdrawal of the Russian army and the replacement of the peacekeeping mission with a civilian mission under the auspices of the UN or the EU," Sandu said.

She emphasized that the withdrawal of russian troops from the territory of Transnistria is the main condition.

Sandu also added that such assistance should come from Moldova's development partners, since the country "is still in a difficult financial situation."

The Moldovan leader noted that Chisinau is now ready to provide Tiraspol with medical assistance, medicines and generators.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to supply Moldova with coal in order to resolve the energy and humanitarian crises that have arisen in Transnistria.

A few days later, on January 12, Zelenskyy said that Tiraspol is not showing any willingness to use Kyiv's help.

Recall that due to the cessation of gas supplies from russia, 75,000 homes in Transnistria were left without "blue fuel".

In Transnistria, widespread power outages were introduced, and water supply disruptions began in some areas of the unrecognized republic.
