The accused Viacheslav Zinchenko spent about UAH 20,000 on the murder of the Lviv Polytechnic Professor Iryna Farion.
The head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian News agency.
He told what was the main motive for the murder of the linguist.
"Due to the fact that Farion was a linguist and constantly spoke out against the Russian language, this became his motive for the murder. There is some information that the Russian special services are involved in this, because there were certain correspondences of the accused, but the motive is this. Therefore, his actions are finally qualified under clauses 8, 14, part 2, article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder of a person in connection with the performance of his public duty for reasons of national intolerance), and part 1, article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives)," the head of the National Police noted.
Vyhivskyi also told where Zinchenko took the money for the murder and how much he spent.
"He had a crypto wallet. It's not that much money, but we calculated that he spent about UAH 20,000 to carry out the murder," the head of the National Police said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the accused in the murder of Farion will be kept in custody at least until March.
The "murderer" of Farion has gone on a hunger strike six times.
Cyber police were able to hack the Google account of the suspect in the murder of Farion and find out the motives for the crime.
