Consumers using electric heating installations will now pay full tariff only for electricity volumes exceeding limit of 2,000 kW/h – Shmyhal

Consumers using electric heating installations will now pay full tariff only for electricity volumes exceeding the limit of 2,000 kW/h, for the rest of the electricity consumed they will pay at a preferential tariff of UAH 2.64 per kWh.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Consumers using electric heating installations will now pay full tariff only for electricity volumes exceeding the limit of 2,000 kW/h. For the rest of the electricity consumed they will pay at a tariff of UAH 2.64. A corresponding decision was made today," he said.

Shmyhal noted that during the heating season, the state ensured that the electricity tariff for the population remained unchanged at UAH 4.32 per kWh.

A preferential tariff of UAH 2.64 is also provided for people who use electric heating installations.

Until now, it applied only to those who consume up to 2,000 kWh of electricity per month.

Those who consume more than this limit paid at the full tariff.

"To fix this, we adopted a resolution on the differentiation of the preferential tariff at the expense of the PSO mechanism. This decision is part of the comprehensive support for Ukrainians, which we are introducing this winter and which will continue after its completion," he noted.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers increased the electricity tariff for the population by 63.6%, from UAH 2.64 to UAH 4.32 per kWh from June 2024.

At the same time, during the heating period (from October 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025), a preferential tariff is provided for consumers who use electric heating installations, at the level of UAH 2.64 per kWh (if they consume up to 2,000 kWh of electricity per month during this period).

Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko reported at the Government Question Hour in the Verkhovna Rada on January 17 that there are no plans to increase electricity tariffs, the tariff set today will be valid during the current heating season.
