Basic combined military training for students of higher educational institutions will begin in September 2025 and includes 300 academic hours.
This is indicated in a statement by the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Basic combined military training will consist of two parts:
a theoretical course - 90 academic hours, which students will take at their educational institutions;
a practical course - 210 academic hours in training units, centers of the Armed Forces and other institutions.
"All students - both men and women - must complete the theory. The practical course is mandatory only for men who are fit for military service due to their health. Women will undergo practice only at their own request and after undergoing a medical examination," Deputy Minister of Defense Serhii Melnyk noted.
It is noted that during the training, students will receive basic knowledge of tactical, reconnaissance and psychological training, first aid, the basics of military discipline, and they will also master the skills of handling weapons.
After completing the basic combined military training, students take a military oath and receive a certificate and a military registration specialty.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that provides for the introduction of Basic combined military training for students seeking higher education. According to the law, women who have completed basic military service are registered with the military exclusively voluntarily.
