No plans to increase tariffs – Halushchenko

There are no plans to increase electricity tariffs, the tariff set today will be valid during the current heating season.

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced this at the "government question hour" in the Verkhovna Rada, which was broadcast by Oleksii Honcharenko, a Member of Parliament from the European Solidarity faction, on his Youtube channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"We do not plan to increase the tariff set for this heating season today. We are talking about the tariff for the population now. According to the calculations that we see already after the fact of the passage of half a year, when this tariff was introduced, it makes it possible to balance the financial market and not accumulate debts in this segment," the Minister said.

According to Halushchenko, the tariffs that the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (Energy Commission ) is considering for the transmission system operator or for the distribution system operator were set for a year and will be valid for a year.

"I do not see any prerequisites (for raising tariffs) unless the level of destruction is such that they simply cannot physically maintain it. For example, Ukrenergo is a tariff organization, it does all the restoration at its own expense," Halushchenko explained.

The issue of electricity tariffs can be raised only as a result of very global destruction of the energy sector, the Minister assures.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a Verkhovna Rada Member from the Batkivshchyna All-Ukrainian Association faction, first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on energy, Oleksii Kucherenko, believes that the government will try to raise the price of electricity for the population after the heating season.
