The French armed forces conducted secret exercises on the deployment of troops in Ukraine to help repel a possible offensive by the army of the aggressor country russia from the territory of Belarus.
It was reported by the French portal Intelligence Online.
According to the portal, in the fall of 2024, France was preparing its special forces for a possible deployment in Ukraine. The secret exercises were called "Perseus".
For at least ten days, the military trained to deploy and engage in battle with russian troops, who, as Paris believed, could invade Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.
Units subordinate to the Special Operations Forces Command of the French army took part in the exercises. These are the 13th Parachute Regiment, the 1st Marine Parachute Regiment, and the 4th Special Forces Helicopter Regiment.
The maneuvers of the French military took place in an area that was similar in characteristics to the northern part of the Kyiv Region.
During the exercises, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare, and reconnaissance were practiced.
According to the portal, some French military personnel were allegedly dissatisfied with the lack of FPV drones, which are actively used by the Ukrainian and russian armies.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early January it became known that Belarus had transferred ground forces units to the border with Ukraine.
Recall, on January 8, Andrii Kovalenko, at the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stated that there was no threat of an invasion of Belarus.
And on January 10, the Siversk operational-tactical group of troops stated that the exercises of Belarusian troops do not pose a threat to Ukraine.
