Ukraine and US working to organize meeting with Trump after his inauguration - Zelenskyy

Ukraine and the US are working to organize a meeting with future US President Donald Trump after his inauguration, where they will discuss key issues.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Thus, Zelenskyy noted that the US is the largest donor to Ukraine "in this fight for survival against russian aggression", and the new United States government is expected to pursue a policy of strengthening Ukraine.

"Of course, after the inauguration, our teams are already working on the content and format of the upcoming meeting. We will discuss key issues there, I will not go into them in detail now, it is too early. But the most important thing for us, you know - we want to end this war, but not just somehow, but we want to end it with a just peace," he said.

The President emphasized that for a just peace, Ukraine needs confidence that russia will not "come back with war again," so it is necessary to receive strong security guarantees. In particular, today, Ukraine's strategic security guarantees are membership in the European Union, NATO, as well as support for the army.

"There will definitely be meetings with the new president (of the United States - ed.) and his team. They will be worked out. We are not ready to communicate about the dates yet," Zelenskyy added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the meantime, US President-elect Donald Trump said that he intends to organize a meeting with russian president vladimir putin "as soon as possible" after his inauguration, which is scheduled for January 20.

Earlier, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak said that the team of US President-elect Donald Trump is beginning to analyze the nature of the war in Ukraine in more depth, in response to the postponement of Kellogg's visit to Ukraine.
