US President-elect Donald Trump said he intends to organize a meeting with russian president vladimir putin "as soon as possible" after his inauguration, which is scheduled for January 20.

Trump did not announce the exact dates of the meeting, which could be the first official meeting of the US and russian leaders since the start of a full-scale russian war against Ukraine in February 2022.
Asked by reporters about the strategy for ending the war, Trump noted that the development of the situation depends on putin's actions.
"Well, there is only one strategy, and it depends on putin. I can't imagine that he is delighted with the way things are going, because it's not very good for him either," Trump said.
Trump stressed that in order to begin any action, it is necessary to officially take office.
"I would do it sooner, but ... you have to get to the office. For some things, you have to be there," Trump added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.
On December 18, Kellogg said that the Ukrainian and russian sides were ready to hold talks.
