Russian oil transit through Ukraine has decreased to a minimum since 2014 to 11.4 million tons.
This is announced by the ExPro publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report states that during 2024, Ukraine transported about 11.36 million tons of russian oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Compared to 2023, the volume of russian oil transit decreased by 16%.
This is also the lowest value since at least 2014, and probably in the entire history of Ukraine's independence - since 1991.
It is noted that the largest amount of russian oil in 2024 was delivered to Hungary - over 4.7 million tons, which practically corresponds to the volume of supplies in 2023.
Also, 3.9 million tons of oil were transported to Slovakia, 15% less than in 2023, and to the Czech Republic - 2.7 million tons, 35% less.

According to ExPro estimates, Ukraine received almost UAH 10 billion or USD 250 million for the transit of russian oil in 2024 (in 2023, Ukraine received almost UAH 9.4 billion or more than USD 255 million for the transit of russian oil).
While the transit of russian gas through Ukraine ended on January 1, 2025 due to the expiration of the five-year contract, the transit of oil from russia continues in January.
The average daily transit volume in the first week of January was about 34,900 tons, 14% more than in December.
“The agreement on the transportation of russian oil was signed in 2019 with a term until the end of 2029. As a result of Ukraine's sanctions against Lukoil in 2024, the new customer for transportation services from September 9, 2024, became the Hungarian MOL Nyrt., which buys russian oil on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border," the report says.
On January 7, 2025, MPs from the European Solidarity Party registered the bill No. 12380 "on the prohibition of the transit of oil and gas through the territory of Ukraine during martial law."
At the same time, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted that stopping the transit of oil would be a violation of the association agreement with the EU, so Ukraine will not stop the transit of oil.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 10, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during the "hour of questions to government" in the Verkhovna Rada that stopping the transit of oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline would be a violation by Ukraine of the Energy Charter Treaty and the Association Agreement with the European Union.
