In Engels, Saratov Oblast, where the Kombinat Kristal oil depot has been burning since January 8 due to the damage caused by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, open burning has allegedly been eliminated.
The Governor of the Saratov Oblast, Roman Busargin, has reported this on Telegram.
"At an industrial enterprise in Engels, we managed to eliminate open burning at night," he assures.
Whether this information is true is currently unknown.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of January 7-8, Ukrainian strike drones attacked the russian city of Engels. From messages on social networks, it became known that the oil depot was hit during the attack.
Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Ukrainian military had struck the Kombinat Kristal oil depot. It supplied fuel to the Engels-2 airfield, which is home to the strategic aviation of the russian army, which is participating in the missile attacks on Ukraine.
On the evening of January 8, it became known that due to the intensification of the fire at the Engels oil depot, a state of emergency was introduced.
