Ukraine responds to Bulgaria over claims to part of Odesa Region

The statements of the leader of the Bulgarian political party Revival (Vazrazhdane), Kostadin Kostadinov, about territorial claims to Ukraine are unacceptable for a politician from an EU member state, and also confirm his systematic propaganda of Kremlin narratives.

This is stated in a comment by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Bulgaria on Friday, January 10.

The department called on the Bulgarian leadership to condemn Kostadinov's statements as supporting the division of European borders and unacceptable for a politician from an EU member state.

"In connection with the statement of the leader of the Revival party, K. Kostadinov, regarding territorial claims to Ukraine and calls to annex "Southern Bessarabia" to Bulgaria, the Embassy of Ukraine appeals to the leadership of the Republic of Bulgaria to condemn the statements of the politician, which incite the destruction of international law, distort historical facts and encourage the division of borders in Europe," the statement says.

The Embassy also noted that the statements of the Bulgarian politician confirm his promotion of Kremlin narratives.
