A US court has granted President-elect Donald Trump an unconditional discharge in the porn star payment case.
This is reported by NBC News.
Judge Juan Merchan ordered Trump to be acquitted on all 34 counts. That is, Trump will not pay a fine, will not be imprisoned, and will not be under supervision.
At the same time, Donald Trump will retain a formal criminal record, so the 47th US President will become the first country leader in history to be convicted of a criminal offense.
Previously, Trump's lawyers called the case "a politically motivated prosecution that was flawed from the start."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a US court found former President Donald Trump guilty of ordering him to pay a large sum of money to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 to keep quiet about the sexual services he provided.
New York State Judge Juan Merchan in Manhattan denied a motion to overturn the conviction, although he made it clear that the President-elect would not be behind bars.
