Thanks to the "Danish model", the Armed Forces of Ukraine received weapons worth almost EUR 538 million in 2024.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Ukraine and Denmark summed up the results of cooperation under the "Danish model" of supporting the Ukrainian defense industry in 2024. Thanks to this initiative, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received weapons worth a total of almost EUR 538 million," the message says.
These funds are the result of agreements concluded in 2024 with the Ministry of Defense of Denmark on financing projects for the purchase of weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers.
Sources of financing are the governments of Denmark (EUR 125 million through the Danish National Ukraine Fund), Sweden (EUR 20 million), Iceland (EUR 2.7 million) and interest on frozen russian assets (EUR 390 million).
At the first stage of the implementation of the "Danish model", Ukraine received Bohdana self-propelled artillery installations, later the production of long-range drones, anti-tank and anti-ship missiles was financed.
The Ministry of Defense notes that Denmark has already reserved EUR 135 million for further purchases in the Ukrainian defense industry in 2025.
In addition, it is planned to send approximately EUR 43 million from Norway.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024, Ukraine launched a new mechanism with Denmark to finance the procurement of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was called the "Danish model".
It provides for the financing of Ukrainian defense enterprises by the Danish government.
In September, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported that the first EUR 40.7 million from Denmark for Ukrainian production are already in the accounts of the Ministry of Defense.
