It was emphasized that during the operation in the Kursk Oblast, 860 soldiers of the russian army were captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This made it possible to return several hundred servicemen, who were in captivity, to Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 5, russian propagandists, military bloggers, and Z-channels announced that a new offensive by the Ukrainian army had begun in the Kursk Oblast.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine did not comment on this information.

The russian statements were partially confirmed by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andrii Kovalenko and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak.
