Ukraine returns home 449 children in 2024

Ukraine returned home 449 Ukrainian children during 2024, which was achieved thanks to the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.

This was announced in a statement by the Office of the President on Monday, January 6.

In 2024, Ukraine managed to return home 449 Ukrainian children, who were illegally deported, taken away or held in temporarily occupied territories by the aggressor country of russia. Currently, these children are with their families, the Office of the President emphasized.

"Every return is a story of renewed hope, preserved childhood, and the victory of justice. We are making every effort to ensure that the voices of abducted Ukrainian children and their families are heard. From Bürgenstock to Montreal, from Brussels to New York, from Cape Town to Mexico City, from the Peace Summit and the Montreal Conference to the UN Security Council - Ukraine is using all international platforms to unite the world and increase pressure on russia," the statement said.

Ukraine's goal remains to return all Ukrainian children home, the press service noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that Australia had joined the International Coalition of Countries for the Return of Ukrainian Children. In total, 41 countries have joined the Coalition.

According to the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, more than 1,700 Ukrainian children are considered missing due to the war.

On October 2, Lubinets reported that the aggressor country of russia had kidnapped more than 20,000 Ukrainian children.
