Ukrainian strikes weaken russian operations in occupied Crimea - ISW

Ukrainian successful strikes on the enemy in the Black Sea weaken russian operations in temporarily occupied Crimea.

This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Thus, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that a Ukrainian military drone Magura V5 with missiles destroyed two russian Mi-8 helicopters and damaged one in the Black Sea on December 31. At the same time, the Defense Intelligence previously reported that the drone strike destroyed only one helicopter and damaged another.

It is noted that the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, questioned russian reports that there were eight crew members on board the helicopters, but noted that the loss of highly qualified helicopter crews is significant.

Pletenchuk also noted that Ukrainian strikes on occupied Crimea have deprived russian forces of sustainable logistics in the area, including through damage to the railway on the bridge across the Kerch Strait and to ferries carrying rail cars and fuel tanks.

The russian military blogger also claimed that russian warships are trying to hide from Ukrainian Navy strikes in bays and ports, and that russian forces will be able to repel Ukrainian naval drones equipped with missiles only with the help of jet and fighter aircraft.

"According to ISW estimates, the strengthening of Ukraine's offensive capabilities in the Black Sea will most likely threaten russian control over occupied Crimea," the report said.
