2024 was the most difficult year for energy system since war start - Halushchenko

The past 2024 year has become the most difficult for the Ukrainian energy system since the beginning of the full-scale war.

This was said by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko on the air of a telethon.

"It was really the most difficult year. Because, even if we analyze the strikes that took place in 2022 and 2023, they (the occupiers, - ed.) began massive strikes there, for example, from October 10. In 2024 - much earlier, from March," Halushchenko said.

According to him, the destruction caused by strikes on the energy sector was much greater than in previous years. In particular, the nature of the strikes, their complexity and the weapons used by the enemy have changed.

All available weapons and even missiles with cluster munitions are used for strikes.

As a reminder, on the second day of the new year, January 2, 2025, no power outage schedules are planned in Ukraine.

Earlier, Halushchenko banned the publication of trading results on the energy market.

On December 27, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened to cut off energy supplies to Ukraine if Kyiv stops transporting russian gas to Central Europe.
