President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Tymur Tkachenko as the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration instead of Serhii Popko.
This is stated in decrees No. 897 and No. 898 of December 31, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In accordance with Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law", Tkachenko Tymur Firuddinovych is appointed as the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration," decree No. 898 states.
35-year-old Tkachenko has been Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development since September.
In August 2023 - September 2024, Tkachenko held the position of Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries.
In 2021-2023, he was the director of the city improvement department of the Kyiv City State Administration.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after the start of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Zelenskyy created in Kyiv in March 2022, in addition to the civil administration of the Kyiv City State Administration, headed by Vitali Klitschko, a city military administration, headed by military officers Mykola Zhyrnov, then Serhii Popko, both heads had the rank of generals.
