The world population grew by more than 71 million people in 2024, and by the New Year it will be 8.09 billion people.

At the same time, in 2023 the world population increased by 75 million people, and in 2024 the growth slowed down slightly. According to estimates, in January 2025, 4.2 births and 2.0 deaths are expected in the world every second.

"The United States grew by 2.6 million people in 2024, and the U.S. population on New Year’s Day will be 341 million people, according to the Census Bureau. The United States was expected to have one birth every 9 seconds and one death every 9.4 seconds in January 2025," the article says.

According to expert forecasts, thanks to international migration, one person will be added to the U.S. population every 23.2 seconds. According to the Census Bureau, the total number of births, deaths and net international migration will increase the U.S. population by one person every 21.2 seconds. The publication recalled that in the 2020s the U.S. population grew by almost 9.7 million people, or 2.9%.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in July the UN recorded an increase in the number of people suffering from hunger in 2021 to 828 million people.

In November 2021, the UN predicted that by 2050, there could be about 35 million Ukrainians left due to migration and population decline.

In 2017, the UN predicted that by 2050, the world's population would increase to 9.8 billion.
