President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Olha Kobylynska (Reshetylova) as the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen and Their Families.
This is stated in Decree No. 886, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"To appoint Olha Olehivna Kobylynska as the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen and Their Families," it reads.
The President reported on his Telegram channel that the new ombudsman is a well-known Ukrainian human rights activist.
"Olha is a well-known, experienced and effective Ukrainian human rights activist. She has already done a lot to build our state institutions, to support Ukrainians," he wrote.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the main task now is to prepare, together with the Ministry of Defense and civil society, a draft law on the military ombudsman, as well as the necessary systemic foundations for the work of this institution.
"Our soldiers must receive effective tools to protect their rights, and there must be a real modernization of human resources management in the Defense Forces of Ukraine. I am grateful to everyone who helps in this," the head of state emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 19, during the presentation of the Internal Stability Plan of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, Zelenskyy said that an ombudsman for the rights of military personnel (military ombudsman) would soon appear in Ukraine.
