Finnish law enforcement officers have stopped the Eagle S vessel, which may have been involved in damaging an undersea power cable between Finland and Estonia and may belong to the shadow fleet of the aggressor country, russia.
This is reported by the Finnish broadcaster Yle.
The Estlink 2 power cable was damaged on Christmas Day in the Gulf of Finland.
The police are investigating the case as vandalism. It is believed that the cable broke due to an anchor that the vessel was dragging along the seabed. The border guard asked the Eagle S to raise the anchor, but only the anchor chain surfaced.
According to customs, the ship belongs to the russian shadow fleet and is involved in circumventing sanctions.

According to the Estonian publication ERR, a malfunction in the power cable could lead to higher exchange prices for electricity in Estonia. The planned deadline for fixing the cable fault is August 1, 2025.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early December, an Internet cable belonging to the Global Connect company broke between Finland and Sweden.
In addition, in November, the only fiber-optic cable connecting Finland with the countries of Central Europe was broken in the Baltic Sea.
