Internet cable breaks between Finland and Sweden

Another fiber-optic internet cable has broken between Finland and Sweden. The causes of the damage are unknown.

This is reported by the Finnish publication SVT.

The cable belonged to the company Global Connect. Unlike previous damages, the break occurred in two places on land. This caused problems with fiber-optic networks. Specialists are already busy restoring the cable.

According to media reports, the police are looking for those who could have cut the cable.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in November it turned out that the C-Lion-1 underwater fiber-optic communication cable between Finland and Germany was damaged.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius admitted that the telecommunications cables between Finland, Germany, Lithuania and Sweden were damaged intentionally.

Finland and Germany issued a joint statement expressing "deep concern over the severed submarine cable" and said they were investigating "an incident that raises suspicions of deliberate damage."
