Zelenskyy appoints "trench professor" Shandor as Ambassador to Hungary

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed scientist and territorial defense fighter Fedir Shandor as Ukraine's Ambassador to Hungary.

This is stated in decree No. 876 of December 21, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"To appoint Shandor Fedir Fedorovych as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary," the decree states.

49-year-old Shandor is a doctor of philosophical sciences, candidate of sociological sciences, president of the Zakarpattia Tourism Organization, and in 2020 was elected a member of the Zakarpattia Regional Council from the Servant of the People party.

With the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, he became a fighter of the 101st Zakarpattia Territorial Defense Brigade, where he lectured to students on the front line after night duty.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy, in his traditional evening video address on December 20, announced that he had approved more than 30 decisions on the appointment of new Ukrainian ambassadors.

In July 2022, Zelenskyy dismissed the Ambassador to Hungary, Liubov Nepop.
