U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Sunday that russian president vladimir putin has expressed a desire to meet with him soon to discuss the war in Ukraine.
Trump made the remarks during a speech in Arizona, CNN reports.
According to Trump, he could meet with putin early in his presidency because he wants to negotiate an end to russia's war in Ukraine.
Trump said ending the war is "one of the things I want to do quickly," and said putin wants to meet with him "as soon as possible."
"President Putin said he wants to meet with me as soon as possible," Trump said during a speech in Arizona.
"So we have to wait for that. But we have to end this war," Trump said.
