The team of newly elected US President Donald Trump has held discussions with the team of incumbent US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian officials about ending the war in Ukraine.
This was reported by NBC News by several sources familiar with the matter.
The publication writes that the teams of Trump and Biden have held discussions with Ukrainian officials to find a way to end the war with the aggressor country of russia. According to the publication, Trump's advisers and cabinet nominees, who have different views on Ukraine, have not yet presented Kyiv with a concrete peace plan.
"Trump is really serious about reaching a ceasefire on the first day," said a source familiar with the matter.
Biden's national security adviser Jake Sullivan has held several conversations with his successor, Congressman Mike Waltz, whom Trump appointed to this position. One source noted that they focused on exchanging information, but have not yet studied strategies for ending the war or a ceasefire.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 11, newly elected US President Donald Trump called russia's war with Ukraine a priority issue that he must resolve.
On December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.
As a reminder, on November 15, Zelenskyy said that under Trump, the war in Ukraine would end faster.
