Trump and Scholz claim war in Ukraine going on "for too long"

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, in particular regarding the russian aggression against Ukraine.

Steffen Hebestreit, the Spokesman for the Federal Government, announced this on Thursday, December 19.

During the conversation, Scholz and Trump discussed the challenges facing security policy in Europe.

"They agreed that Russia's war against Ukraine has been going on for too long and that it is important to get on the path to a fair, just and sustainable peace as soon as possible," Hebestreit said.

According to him, the German Chancellor emphasized that he would support Ukraine "for as long as it takes" in protecting it from russian aggression.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 18, the future U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and the aggressor country russia, Keith Kellogg, stated that the Ukrainian and russian sides are ready for negotiations.

On December 9, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the possibility of ending the war.

As we will recall, on November 15, Zelenskyy said that under Trump, the war in Ukraine would end faster.
