The russian president has said he wants to launch an "experimental" strike on Kyiv with Oreshnik and proposes to pull all Western air defense and missile defense systems to Kyiv to see if they can intercept it.
He made the remarks during a live broadcast linked to a "big" annual press conference on Thursday, December 19.
Putin said that Western air defense forces have no chance of repelling such a strike. He disagreed with this opinion and suggested "performing a technological experiment."
"If Western experts believe so (that a strike with the "Leshchina" can be repelled - Ed.), then let them suggest to us and those who pay them in the West, in the U.S., to conduct some kind of technological experiment, such a high-tech duel of the 21st century. They will concentrate all their air defense and missile defense forces there, and we will strike there with the "Oreshnik". And let's see what will be ready for such an experiment. "I think it will be useful for both us and the American side," the dictator added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in a week the russian federation dropped almost 100 missiles, 630 bombs and 550 drones on Ukraine.
On November 21, russia attacked the city of Dnipro with an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" ("Kedr"), which can carry a nuclear warhead.
Earlier on November 22, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported what was known about a new russian missile.
