The newly elected US President Donald Trump knows that Ukraine does not want to give up and freeze the war, but at the same time wants to act quickly to resolve the conflict.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the Le Parisien newspaper on December 17.
"Trump knows about my desire not to rush anywhere to the detriment of Ukraine. The country has been fighting for its sovereignty for a long time. No matter how many presidents or prime ministers want to declare an end to the war, we are not going to simply give up and give up our independence. The danger would be to say: we will freeze the war and come to an agreement with the russians," the statement said.
Thus, the leader of Ukraine stated that Trump really wants to move quickly to resolve the war, but he does not yet have access to all the necessary information.
"He is not yet in the White House and cannot have access to all the information: intelligence, the Ministry of Defense, certain diplomatic channels, and so on. When he is there, we will be able to speak the same language, with the same level of information," the Ukrainian President explained.
Zelenskyy also stressed that it is important that the changes in the United States of America with Trump's arrival in the White House are in favor of Ukraine, Ukrainian teams are already working with Trump's teams.
Recall that the day before, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Zelenskyy would meet with the NATO Secretary General and leaders of European countries to discuss further support for Ukraine.

According to The Wall Street Journal, at the meeting in Paris, Zelenskyy, Trump, and Macron discussed sending a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine after reaching a possible ceasefire agreement.
