US to transfer "massive amount of weapons" to Ukraine over 5 weeks - CNN

The administration of current US President Joe Biden is working to increase arms supplies to Ukraine in his final days in office, CNN reported on Friday, December 13, citing a senior administration official.

A senior administration official told CNN that the administration is investing resources to ensure that previously announced weapons reach Ukraine before the end of Biden's term. According to him, this should "put Kyiv on a solid footing by 2025."

"The Department of Defense is taking historic steps to move a massive amount of weapons to Ukraine over the next five weeks. Between now and mid-January, we will deliver hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles and other critical assets to Ukraine," the official said.

The Pentagon is currently carrying out sea and air shipments of weapons to meet the delivery deadline, the publication writes.

On December 13, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the US would provide Ukraine with a new package of weapons and equipment worth USD 500 million.

In November, Blinken said that the administration of current US President Joe Biden would make every effort to ensure that Ukraine could fight against the aggressor country russia in 2025.
