Poland does not plan to send its troops to Ukraine if an agreement on a ceasefire is reached.
The country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated this, Reuters reported on Thursday, December 12.
Tusk spoke together with French President Emmanuel Macron, who was visiting Warsaw. The politicians said that in the event of a ceasefire and a peace agreement between Ukraine and russia, the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine could be on their agenda.
"To cut off speculation about the potential presence of one or another country in Ukraine after a ceasefire is reached... Decisions regarding Poland will be made in Warsaw and only in Warsaw," Tusk stressed.
According to him, Poland currently does not plan such actions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 10, Tusk said that peace talks on the war in Ukraine could begin by the end of December 2024.
On December 3, Tusk said he "expects landmark developments" regarding the war and peace in Ukraine.
On November 30, Tusk announced that Poland would build the Eastern Shield fortifications on the border with Ukraine as well.
