Ukrnafta receives additional 13,000 tons of oil and over 6 million cubic meters of gas after hydraulic fracturing

Ukrnafta, a major oil producing company, received 13,000 tons of oil and over 6 million cubic meters of gas after hydraulic fracturing (HF).

This is stated in the company's message, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is noted that Ukrnafta is actively conducting operations to intensify production with the involvement of third-party contractors: the flow rate at the treated wells has already increased by 4.2 times, and additional production amounted to almost 13,000 tons of oil and more than 6 million cubic meters of gas.

According to the statement, a significant number of wells in the company's production fund have seen a decrease in the permeability of the bottomhole zone of the formations, which leads to a drop in production, therefore one of the most effective methods of intensification is hydraulic fracturing (HF).

"After its application, the permeability of the formations increases, and the productivity of the wells increases. As a result, we have additional oil and gas production. Part of the operations are carried out by the involved partners. Thus, out of 35 planned well operations with hydraulic fracturing, 33 hydraulic fracturing operations were carried out by an external contractor in the east and west of Ukraine. More than 20 wells are already operating," the report says.

Ukrnafta director Serhii Koretskyi noted that the design indicators of additional production have been achieved at more than 90% of the facilities, and the success rate is 92%.

"In general, the total throughput increased by 4.2 times, from 71.8 to 303.7 tons per day, which brought additional production in the amount of more than 12.7 tons of oil and over 6.4 million cubic meters of gas," he added.

It is reported that given the successful and positive results, the program will continue in the future.

30 additional hydraulic fracturing operations are planned by an external contractor in the 1st half of 2025.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrnafta received an additional 5,300 tons of oil in the 1st half of 2024 after a series of well workovers.
